Vietnam's elongated north to south shape includes tropical and subtropical zones and is responsible for the variety of weather you will invariably experience on most holidays. You will be unlucky to experience inclement weather throughout your stay as when one region is cold another will be hot or when one is rainy the rest of the contry will be sunny. A perfect touring destination.

The South (Saigon, Dalat, Mekong Delta, Phu Quoc)

The south is hot year round and has two seasons: Dry and Wet.

The dry season from November to April is generally sunny and humid. The temperature remains fairly steady around 28-33 degrees Celsius year round. Dalat, at an altitude of 1,500m, has a more temperate climate, particularly from November through to March, although due to the altitude you can get four seasons in one day.

The Wet season generally lasts from May to October and you can expect daily downpours, usually brief and easy to predict. Mui Ne has the driest climate if looking a beach stay during this time.

The Central Coast (from Nha Trang to Hue)

For most of the year the Central Coast enjoys fairly settled weather and from March to August it enjoys a dry season that's out of kilter with much of the country. As such it's a very popular destination with those who want to travel at Easter or during the Summer holidays and want a beach break during the holiday. Hoi An is a superb choice for a few days on the beach.

From October to December it experiences its rainy season with some typhoon activity.

The North (Hanoi, Halong Bay & Sapa)

Summer in the north lasts from June to October. The Autumn through October and November should be perfect, with temperatures in the high 20's and blue skies. Through December to February it gets cooler but drier before Spring arrives through March to May.

The wetter months of June to September reach their peak in July / August with high temperatures and heavy thunderstorms.

Sapa and the mountainous north can have freezing temperatures and heavy fog in January / February, and June / August’s heavy rains make trekking and especially mountain climbing less desirable. However in September / October the rice terraces turn golden and are harvested.
