Like here in the UK, September signals a weather change. If you can travel in early September the weather in the bulk of the country should be good, but as the month develops we’d steer you more towards the east coast where the good weather remains for longer. By the end of September the weather will probably be a mixed bag with warm temperatures but increasing rainfall.
September is the final dry month on the east coast and Yala (in the south east) usually closes during this month to allow the flora and fauna to recover and take a break from us. For a wildlife experience head to Gal Oya Natonal Park that stands out for its beautiful landscapes, abundant wildlife and even the chance to spot a swimming elephant!
