A fantastic time to travel across the bulk of the country, away from the far north and east coast which is still in its monsoon season. The rest of Sri Lanka is basking in sunshine and generally dry with the occasional shower. Temperatures will be lovely and warm on the coastal plains up in the high 20’s / low 30’s °C, although a touch cooler up in the Hill Country.
The south and west coasts beaches remain the places to head to at the end of your holiday. This is also one of the best months for whale watching off the south coast, so perhaps pencil in a half day tour from Mirissa into your holiday plans.
For wildlife the dry season is beginning to restrict water supplies and vegetation is dying back, so this is great time to include a few days in Wilpattu National Park, Udawalawe National Park or Yala National Park where you may be lucky enough to spot a leopard enjoying the warmth of the sun as they bask on a rocky outcrop.
