No real change this month as it continues on the rainy theme from July and wherever you travel you should be prepared to get wet. As with most of the region it will usually be heavy afternoon storms. The beaches remain closed and the “driest” conditions can be enjoyed in Mandalay and Bagan, but this isn’t the best time to visit..

The monsoon does allow for the best sailing conditions up the Chindwin River, a main tributary of the Irrawaddy that’s only really navigable when the waters are at their peak and offers a very comfortable way to visit the more isolated regions up towards the India border.
