November signals the start of the high season as tourists flock back to Thailand to enjoy perfect holiday conditions. In the north around Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle the countryside is still a vibrant green and walking conditions are perfect even if there is still a little give in the ground. It’s also a great time to take a cruise along the Mekong as river levels are high and the Luang Say cruise to Luang Prabang is a great laid back way to travel to Laos.
Tour through central Thailand from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya or Nong Khai and you can expect great weather with temperatures in the mid to high 20s°C. Then head down to Phuket, Khao Lak and Krabi on the west coast for perfect beach weather. If you fancy something slightly off the main tourist trail, the island of Koh Chang towards the Cambodia border is also in its prime.
