If you were thinking of travelling in September, perhaps play it safe and wait for October as the country starts to dry up, but the landscapes are still vibrant green and the rivers and waterfalls are in full flood. For example the Khone Falls (on the Mekong River along the Laos-Cambodian border) is the widest waterfall in the world. The series of rapids and falls are 6.7 miles wide, drop 70 feet and at the end of the rainy season have a flow double that on the Niagara Falls.
Temperatures continue to drop to the mid-20s°C as does humidity. Evenings, especially in the northern hills can be a little chilly. All in all an improving picture whilst also avoiding the crowds of high season.
