If visiting Laos in April we’d recommend that you take it easy as the thermometer is only heading one way - up. Although most regions are now experiencing daily highs into the 30’s°C, the days are largely sunny and the humidity crucially remains bearable. As the month continues the first few showers may arrive but expect a largely dry month, but perhaps pack a few extra shirts!
Water dominates Laos, in fact it’s estimated that up to 60% of the Mekong’s flow originates here from the myriad of rivers that stream down from the hills, but at the end of the dry season any water related excursions won’t be in their prime. So for example, although the Kuang Si Waterfalls in Luang Prabang and the twin falls on the Bolaven Plateau are worth visiting year round they won’t be as impressive as if you saw them in October / November.
