Overview

Head north of Luang Prabang, following the route of the Nam Ou River and you’ll be rewarded with a stunning drive bordered by forested hills, towering limestone cliffs and small villages seemingly packed full of smiling children.  Your destination is Nong Khiaw a small village picturesquely sandwiched between the jagged limestone mountains and coffee coloured waters of the Nam Ou River.

Your home will be the Nong Kiau Riverside Resort, the perfect place to absorb the remarkable scenery, as it squeezes every bit out of its magnificent location looking over the river and across to the mountains.

Facilities

The restaurant is open from 7am – 10pm serving Lao cuisine. WiFi is now available. Facilities end here as it’s the wonderful surrounds you’ve come to experience and there’s plenty of ways of doing that.

Perhaps take a guided walk or mountain bike tour into the surrounding countryside, soon disappearing amongst the mountains and forests, visiting hill tribe villages. Or rent a boat and do a spot of fishing, climb or abseil a nearby mountain with a professional instructor, tube the river or just relax and challenge locals to a game of petanque.

All 15 bungalows are large and ensuite with 4 poster beds, mosquito nets, tea / coffee making facilities and perhaps most importantly, a huge balcony looking out over the river and mountains.
