Muang La Resort
Introduction
Set on the banks of an idyllic river and hemmed in by green mountains, Muang La Resort is an oasis of peace and tranquillity in North Laos, a little bit of luxury off the beaten track. Whether you are seeking a restful holiday in a secluded location or a journey discovery through northern Laos, the Muang La Resort makes a perfect base. Don’t miss the natural hot springs that flow through the hotel. Often used as a touring stop off for just 1 or 2 nights, it definitely warrants a longer stay.
Rooms
Nestled amidst lush landscaped gardens, the property consists of four villas (8 rooms) built in a mixture of hard wood and bamboo. Each room is individually designed and named after a local ethnic group – Lenten, Ikho, Hmong, Akha, Khamu and Tai Lu – to reflect the multi-cultural character of the region. The interior is filled with Lao textiles and artwork thoughtfully designed and crafted by local artisans. Rooms also feature small private balconies on which to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the surrounding countryside.
Facilities
Overlooking the Nam Pak River, the stylish restaurant specialises in northern Lao cuisine. Private dining can be arranged in an exotic riverside garden accessible only by a buffalo-drawn dugout canoe or in the middle of a river island opposite the resort. The hotel also features a unique elevated spa with water channelled from a natural hot spring, perfect for soaking tired muscles while enjoying the superb views. Invigorating massages are enjoyed in the comfort of the open-air thatched roof pavilion.
