The popularity of river cruising along the Mekong through Laos or from Vietnam to Cambodia (or vice versa) has never been higher, but the cost of a 7-10 night cruise can be prohibitive, so we offer other ways of making the most of this magical river.
New 3 Night Mekong Cruise
The most obvious way to make cruising more affordable is to shorten time on the water and Pandaw (#Pandaw) now operate a twice weekly sailing from Saigon, via the Mekong Delta to Phnom Penh (or vice versa). To this it’s very easy to also include the Angkor Temples, Saigon and beach.
The Pandaw boats are luxurious replicas of the colonial-era river boats that once cruised the inland waterways of Southeast Asia and provide a superb base from which to enjoy panoramic views of the river and explore villages, temples, orchards and wetlands along the way.

Includes 4 nights in 2 beautiful Mekong hotels before taking a boat for a 5 hour transfer along the Mekong River to / from Phnom Penh.

Head South in Laos
The Mekong River feels ever present in Laos as it flows through Vientiane, the Capital, and Luang Prabang (#LuangPrabang), the main tourist hot spot, but arguably it really makes its mark in the far south around Si Phan Don (4,000 Islands).
Here the Mekong River breaks down into a myriad of arms and channels that surround tiny islands, sandbars and islets to create a water world, home to rare flora and fauna including the freshwater dolphin. During the rainy season this section of the Mekong fills out to a breadth of 14km, the river’s widest reach along its 4350km journey from the Tibetan Plateau to the South China Sea. At the Cambodia border a rolling mass of rapids and waterfalls stretch over a kilometre and drop around 30 metres, dramatically marking the separation of the upper Mekong and lower Mekong.
You can cruise by boat or base yourself in a choice of beautiful riverside hotels while you explore this beautiful region. Easy to add to you Laos, Cambodia or Vietnam holiday. Below is just one holiday example.
