Full Itinerary
Day 1: Phnom Penh (B) - Touring Complete - Transfer to 4 Rivers Floating Lodge
This morning your driver will pick you up for a fascinating 4 hour drive down to the Koh Kong Conservation Corridor. Slowly leave the Capital behind and enter an undeveloped world of rolling hills, rivers and farming villages.
On arrival at Tatai enjoy a short boat transfer to the luxury 4 Rivers Floating Lodge. This unusual hotel is made up of floating pontoons on a beautiful mangrove lined river, each of which is a large luxury tented room with a proper double bed, seating area, TV and ensuite bathroom.
Eco-tourism has come a long way and 4 Rivers is a surprisingly luxurious, boutique resort that just happens to be floating on a beautiful river in one of the most unspoilt corners of Cambodia. In tune with its natural surrounding it offers a wonderful window into a disappearing world. This evening relax on the restaurant terrace, the prime position to watch the sun set over the river and sink into the mangrove forests. Dinner will be served at the wonderful restaurant that specialises in a fusion of Khmer and French cuisine. Life on the river's not bad!
Day 2: 4 River Floating Eco-Lodge (B) - Relax or Explore This Water World
A full day to relax and enjoy this part of Eden. Perhaps kayak down the river with or without the hotel's experienced local guide, exploring the mangrove waterways that reach back into the jungle, or perhaps team up with some locals and try your hand at fishing for your supper. Alternatively join a boat excursion to Tatai Waterfall, Koh Kong Island or visit local markets in nearby villages. Maybe just enjoy a refreshing swim in the river and lounge on the terrace soaking up the tropical sunshine, before taking a long lunch. After dinner one of the most popular excursions is the short kayak adventure to watch the fireflies’ night time show.
Day 3: 4 Rivers (B) Transfer to Kep or Idyllic Beach Islands
A final morning to enjoy life on the river before leaving for coast for 5 nights at your choice of resort. We only use 5 nights as an example. The drive along the coast is a joy, revealing the real rural Cambodia made up of sporadic villages, paddy fields and small farms. Your driver will be happy to stop for photos, answer any questions and help make the journey part of your holiday. Look out for children catching frogs with a fishing pole in the paddy fields or perhaps shrimps with a net. Others will be using the road to move their cattle or water buffalo from one field to the next.
Days 4-7: Kep, Koh Rong Island or Koh Chang (B) - Beach Days
4 full days to enjoy your beachside location, relax by the pool, stroll along the beach and perhaps explore the surrounding seas & islands.
Koh Rong
If you're a true beach lover we'd recommend that you hop on a boat and head to Koh Rong, 1 hour from the mainland and ringed by powder white beaches and little else. The surrounding seas are made to be explored by snorkel, kayak and paddle board.
Kep
If the beach isn't the main consideration and you just want to relax in a beautiful environment then Kep will hit the mark. This laid back seaside resort found fame as a Khmer retreat offering an atmospheric stay by the sea, with authentically renovated hotels lining the shore and nestling in the hills to create a special feel. Except for a crab market and some simple restaurants there is little else here, but this is what adds to its allure. There’s no beach but you can visit outlying islands.
Koh Chang (Thailand)
Thailand's border is very close to 4 Rivers so an alternative option would be to transfer into Thailand and take a 1 hour ferry (with guide) to the island of Koh Chang. Off the main tourist trail Koh Chang is ringed by beautiful beaches with a lush interior and plenty of good hotels to choose from. At the end of the holiday you will be transferred to Trat or Bangkok Airport for your flight home.
Day 8: Beach (B) / Home
Morning free then afternoon airport transfer back to Phnom Penh, Trat or Bangkok in time for your overnight flight home.
Day 9: Arrive home
