Overview

Cambodia's changing fast and this is the perfect add-on for those who'd like to support efforts being made to reverse the trend of enviromental destruction whilst enjoying an eco-adventure in the beautiful Cardamom Hills. All topped off with a few days (or more) on the beach.

Day 1: Transfer to Cardamom Tented Camp for 2 nights. Introductory walk through reserve

Day 2: Hike with Ranger to see Wildlife Alliance work & returning wildlife. Return by kayak

Day 3: Late morning transfer to Kep or the idyllic islands for 5 nights by the sea.

Days 4-7: 4 days to relax and enjoy your seaside setting.

Day 8: Private transfer back up to Phnom Penh in time for your flight home.

Day 9: Arrive home.

Full Itinerary

Day 1: Phnom Penh - Transfer to Cardamom Hills (B / D)

This morning you’ll be picked up for the private 4 hour transfer south to Trapeang. Cardamom Tented Camp 2s On arrival you can enjoy a light lunch (own expense) before jumping aboard the camp’s boat for an hour’s journey up the Preak Tachan River to Cardamom Tented Camp. Arrive at approximately 3pm and you have the rest of the afternoon to settle into your comfortable safari-style tent and enjoy an exploratory hike in the jungle around the camp. This is a luxurious but authentic eco-resort that is working hard to help restore this naturally rich bio-diverse region back to its pristine best by protecting the animals, encouraging their return and nurturing the land. During your stay you will introduced to the conservation and protection work of the Wildlife Alliance. The mornings and early evenings are filled with birdsong and if you’re lucky gibbon calls. You may be lucky enough to see them during your excursions, but this shouldn’t be thought of as an African safari, nature is just starting to fight back after years of destruction.

Day 2: Cardamom Hills - Escorted Walking and Kayaking Day (B / L / D)

This morning join the Wildlife Alliance Rangers and English-speaking guide on a walk that patrols the network of abandoned poaching and logging trails through the dense forest. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife and the guide will explain what makes the Cardamom Hills so important. The half-day hike will stop by the Ranger Station, where confiscated snares, traps and improvised hunting rifles are on display. From here the most popular way to return is by kayak or you can return on foot with the rangers and guide. The rest of the afternoon’s free to perhaps swim, kayak or just relax and enjoy the beautiful setting. Dinner and overnight Cardamom Tented Camp.

Day 3: Cardamom Hills (B) - Beach - Kep or Koh Rong Island

Early morning free to enjoy the camp before being transferred to Cambodia's coast for 5 nights by the sea in Sihanoukville, Kep or an idyllic outlying Island. We only use 5 nights as an example.

Days 4-7: Beach Days - Kep or Koh Rong Island (B)

beach vietnam s 4 full days to enjoy your beachside location, relax by the pool, stroll along the beach and perhaps explore the surrounding seas & islands.

Koh Rong
If you're a true beach lover we'd recommend that you hop on a boat and head to Koh Rong, 1 hour from the mainland and ringed by powder white beaches and little else. The surrounding seas are made to be explored by snorkel, kayak and paddle board.

Kep
If the beach isn't the main consideration and you just want to relax in a beautiful environment then Kep will hit the mark. This laid back seaside resort found fame as a Khmer retreat offering an atmospheric stay by the sea, with authentically renovated hotels lining the shore and nestling in the hills to create a special feel. Except for a crab market and some simple restaurants there is little else here, but this is what adds to its allure. There’s no beach but you can visit outlying islands.

Day 8: Beach (B) / Home

Morning free then afternoon airport transfer back to Phnom Penh in time for your overnight flight home.

Day 9: Arrive home
